Dr. Bernard Carr on synchronicity and the expanding mind of physics.
Your mind mirrors the greater mind. In a dream, cosmologist Bernard Carr envisions two trains on a collision path—one symbolizing quantum physics, the other relativity theory. The following day, he encounters an article discussing the clash between these scientific paradigms. Was this precognition? Synchronicity?
This experience challenges our traditional understanding of time, transitioning from a linear 3D view to deeper, subjective dimensions. Carr shares additional stories of significant coincidences, leading to a discussion on how physics continuously broadens our awareness—from the smallest particles, like quarks, to the expansive cosmos. As cosmologists explore the universe further, they increasingly view it as a vast, ever-expanding mind—a thought in perpetual motion.
Meet Bernard now on the Connecting with Coincidence podcast:
Bernard Carr is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics and Astronomy at Queen Mary University of London. He completed his PhD by studying the universe's first second under the guidance of Stephen Hawking at Cambridge University and Caltech. He later held research fellowships at Trinity College and the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge before joining Queen Mary. His research expertise lies in cosmology, focusing on the early universe, black holes, dark matter, and the anthropic principle. He is also deeply interested in consciousness, viewing it as a fundamental aspect of the Universe. Bernard Carr serves as the President of the Scientific and Medical Network and is a former President of the Society for Psychical Research.

Terrific idea about the cosmos as a thought/mind field. This feels so much like cutting edge physics, not to mention metaphysics.
