Unlocking the Mysteries of Remote Viewing, with Physicist Russell Targ

Unlike clairvoyance, remote viewing is intentional.

Russell Targ, Physicist (source: Wikipedia)

Physicist Russell Targ designed protocols to convince scientists and military leaders that remote viewing is an accessible personal skill. Unlike clairvoyance, remote viewing is intentional.

On this week’s Connecting with Coincidence podcast, Targ describes a remarkable series of coincidences that led him from laser research to parapsychology. He advised his own children, as he advises us, “when something unusual happens, say ‘yes’ unless it is clearly dangerous.”

As you may know, at the start of each podcast, I share a coincidence story of my own. This one is called “Clairvoyance”, which is appropriate given the fascinating subject of this podcast.

A woman I met at dance and had a great time with had left town for about a month, and I deeply missed her. Soon after she returned, I was sitting with another man at dance when I suddenly felt the urge to sing. Two lines into my improvised song, the woman who had left town turned the corner at the bottom of the stairs, looked up at us for a moment, and said, “What a lovely greeting!” She somehow intuitively recognized I was singing for her, but I didn't know she was coming. This is a form of clairvoyance: being able to see her coming without knowing I’m seeing her coming. How did I know without knowing? How do clairvoyance and remote viewing work? That’s what we’ll get into in this week’s podcast with a true expert in the field.

Russell Targ is a physicist and author, a pioneer in the development of the laser and laser applications in 1960, and a co-founder of the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) investigation of psychic abilities called remote viewing. This work in the psychic area has been published in Nature, and The Proceedings of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE).

Targ holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Queens College and did graduate work in physics at Columbia University. He is author of ten books dealing with the scientific investigation of psychic abilities and Buddhist approaches to the transformation of consciousness.
